4 of the most uncomfortable health issues

Holistic health remedies for 4 of the most uncomfortable health issues, no one likes to talk about. Hint, they are a pain in the butt!

I think more people are less shy nowadays to talk about poop, hemorrhoids and depression. Especially given the commercials on tv, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok videos.

Well, we are going to talk about it. 4 of the most uncomfortable health issues are –

  1. Hemorrhoids
  2. Constipation
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Depression

Hemorrhoids

Basically, these are busted blood vessels in “that” area. Straining to go number 2, eating sugary foods and heavy carbohydrates, excessive diarrhea and/or constipation, IBS, Crohn’s, and wearing tight pants are some of the most common causes of hemorrhoids. Here are some remedies that I’m sure you really want to know, but too embarrassed to ask, or don’t know who to ask.

  • Helpful applications:
    • cold compress to tighten and tone the blood vessels, calm pain, irritation, heat and redness.
    • apply a golden salve or the JennScents Hemorrhoids Salve then wear a panty liner to keep the salve from getting on your underwear
    • spray plant enzymes on the area to keep hydrated & nourished
  • Essential oils: look for astringent, anti-inflammatory & analgesic properties
    • chamomile
    • copaiba
    • coriander
    • cypress
    • geranium
    • spikenard
    • yarrow
  • Herbs:
    • Burdock root
    • Chlorophyll
    • Citrus bioflavonoids
    • Fenugreek seed
    • Horse chestnut seed
    • Kelp
    • Plantain
    • Yarrow helps arrest bleeding
  • Lifestyle habits:
    • wear breathable cotton underwear
    • wear lose fitting pants
    • don’t hold going to the bathroom (#1 and #2)
    • don’t wipe aggressively, use a wet wipe when possible (don’t flush those, place in the trash can so it doesn’t clog toilets)
    • eat more fiber
    • reduce sugar and flour heavy foods
    • eat more vegetables & fruits
    • add in magnesium for constipation
    • add in slippery elm for diarrhea

Constipation

When your bowels are fatigued, weak, congested, impacted and not able to move the “trash” out of the gut. This could occur because of poor diet (high sugar with low fruits & fiber), lack of minerals like magnesium, you have held it for so long (many years), that you “trained” your body not to go, and/or stress. I want you to notice something. When you are really stressed and have to handle a tough situation, notice if you feel full and more constipated. Now, after you release that stress trigger or handle that uncomfortable situation, I bet you will have the best bowel movement. You will feel like you just dropped 10 pounds and your breathing has increased and gotten better. Am I right?

Here are some remedies that I find beneficial during tines of constipation.

  • Helpful applications:
    • Spray the rectum with plant enzymes every time you go to the restroom. This will keep the area hydrated and reduce atrophy & colon fatigue.
    • Apply a “rectum massage oil” every night before bed to keep moist, hydrated, and provide bowel supporting benefits. I like to do a combination of 50% castor oil with 50% pumpkin seed oil and a 2% dilution ratio of essential oils.
  • Essential oils: look for expectorant, decongestant, stimulating yet relaxant properties
    • basil
    • eucalyptus
    • grapefruit
    • lavender
    • patchouli
    • rosemary
    • tea tree
    • thyme
  • Herbs:
  • Lifestyle habits:
    • don’t hold going to the bathroom (#1 and #2)
    • eat more fiber
    • reduce sugar and flour heavy foods
    • eat more vegetables & fruits
    • add in magnesium for constipation

Diarrhea

When the gut freaks out and spasms due to some kind of stressor, diarrhea will happen. You could be exposed to chemical toxins that causes distress within your gastrointestinal tract, eating foods that don’t agree, food poisoning, high stress level, and be dehydrated. With diarrhea, you will need to include nervous system remedies to get it calmed down.

Here are some remedies to help with diarrhea.

  • Helpful applications:
    • cold compress to tighten and tone the area
    • massage oil with castor oil (astringent), hazelnut (astringent), and black cumin (Nigella sativa) oil as an anti-inflammatory. You could include a 1% essential oil dilution ratio.
  • Essential oils: look for astringent, anti-inflammatory & analgesic properties
    • chamomile
    • clary sage
    • marjoram
    • myrrh
    • spearmint
    • turmeric
    • vetiver
  • Herbs:
    • Fennel seeds
    • Feverfew
    • Hops
    • Marshmallow root
    • Passionflower
    • Slippery elm
  • Lifestyle habits:
    • don’t hold going to the bathroom (#1 and #2)
    • don’t wipe aggressively, use a wet wipe when possible (don’t flush those, place in the trash can so it doesn’t clog toilets)
    • balance your fiber – 50% soluble & 50% insoluble
    • reduce sugar and flour heavy foods
    • reduce dairy
    • eat more alkaline vegetables & fruits & avoid acidic foods
    • add in slippery elm for diarrhea

Depression

A common thought when you are depressed is, “if I smile, no one will know”, or “if I am not happy, no one sees me or cares”. Well, that is NOT true. People can always feel when you are down and depressed. Even if you are faking a smile. The energy depression puts off is undeniable, and unfortunate. You ARE important. You ARE worthy. You ARE valued. You are appreciated…more than you know. Just because people get busy and don’t pay attention to you, doesn’t mean you are not important to them. Sometimes, you have to make it known how you are feeling and what you need to feel whole. Everyone is in a different place in life, and someone else may just be surviving like you…faking a smile, just like you. Communication is key. Communicating with LOVE more specifically.

  • Essential oils: look for astringent, anti-inflammatory & analgesic properties

    • St. John’s Wort – don’t not take if you are taking antidepressant medications as there may be a contraindication (ask your doctor and pharmacist)
    • Yarrow helps arrest bleeding
  • Lifestyle habits:
    • Do something fun at least 30 minutes a day
    • find a hobby
