Essential Oils & Aromatherapy Techniques to Overcome Limiting Beliefs

Today, I want to share with you the power of Aromatherapy. This is the use and integration of essential oils that will shift, inspire, encourage and motivate your behaviors, responses & reactions. It can help you release & replace negative thoughts, emotions & beliefs with positive, healthy & productive ones.

 

How does it work?

Smelling essential oils activate the brain via the olfactory & limbic systems to assess a situation. It then sends messages to your gut brain (via the vagus nerve) to take action, which helps you respond to whatever thoughts, emotions, and stresses you are experiencing.

When you match up the right essential oils to what you need to balance any imbalances, physically mentally & emotionally, it will provide you with results. Sometimes your response is quick in the instance of calming your nerves, situational anxiety and food cravings. Other times, it’s a process of using your essential oils daily to nurture and comfort emotions such as anger, grief and fear.

There are a few safety measures to keep in mind. Aromatherapy for Mindset

Here are 3 key ways to use aromatherapy safely & effectively for three common mindset struggles & limiting beliefs. Thoughts and emotions that might be holding you back from conquering your wellness goals, and being fully aligned with yourself.

Which essential oils and aromatherapy techniques will help you increase your brain power, strengthen mindset, overcome defeating behaviors and elevate your motivate?

  1. Choosing citrus & camphoraceous oils can help you immensely increase brain energy, which in turn boost your motivation, determination & resilience stamina. Essential oils like lemon, orange, rosemary & eucalyptus are wonderful, especially when combined together.
    • Aromatherapy practice: I suggest diffusing 2 drops of each in an ultrasonic diffuser for 30 minutes in the morning or before tackling a project. This creates circulation, supporting the nervous system messaging of your neurotransmitters, hormones & metabolism.
      • You can also add this same ratio to a cup (8 oz.) of Epsom or sea salt and use as a smelling salt for a non-electric diffuser option.

  2. Overcoming self-defeating thoughts that lead to hesitation & procrastination, which is a result of being stuck – physically mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and/or energetically is tough. Using certain fruits, woods and plants combined together, can find those stuck areas and move the “fluid boulders” (i.e. lymph) to get you unstuck. Pink grapefruit, cypress and patchouli is my favorite combination for this.
    • Aromatherapy practice: You can add 5 drops of each to a nasal atomizer and smell it 3 times a day for “acute” or minor stuckness. You will smell every 2 hours daily for more serious stuckness like depression, loneliness & mental fatigue.
      • You can also put that same recipe in a cup (8 oz.) of Epsom or sea salt. Add that to warm or hot bath water and soak for 15 minutes 1-2 times daily. The scents will activate the limbic process to move stuck emotions & thoughts, while helping the lymphatic system to move out toxic debris.

  3. Using florals & spices can help you connect to your core. It helps you tap into your inner passion and fire to fuel your drive and determination. This in turn will elevate your level of motivation. When you are motivated, you move. This movement drives momentum towards your goals. An object in motion stays in motion. You need to keep moving like the hands on a clock. Be in this moment. Appreciate what you have accomplished (not what you don’t). Marvel in where you are going. Be excited. Get giddy. Love you path. Love yourself! My favorite essential oils are lavender, geranium, clary sage and cinnamon (leaf & bark combo, as the bark can be very harsh & overpowering).
    • Aromatherapy practice: Combine 4 drops lavender, geranium and cinnamon with 2 drops clary sage in a 10mL roll-on bottle. Add in a carrier oil such as grapeseed, sunflower or apricot oil. Cap and shake well. Use this every morning to get your motivation engine roaring while connecting and staying connected to yourself. Let this drive your self-care, loving actions towards yourself, so you can emit this to others throughout the day.
