Think about how many times during the day you help someone else. Now think about how many times during the day, you help yourself. Or take a 10-15 break, without any technology, just to do some deep breathing, walk around the block or nurture yourself. In most cases, you have a double-digit number next to helping others. And you probably have a 0 or 1 next to helping yourself. Well, it’s time for self-nourishment aromatherapy!
THE BANK OF YOU
Start thinking of yourself as a bank. The bank of YOU – YOUbank, an Emotional bank, a Mind-Body Bank, whatever you want to call it. You can’t keep making withdrawals without putting in deposits (or you go into the red and your account becomes depleted). It is all about checks and balances, not about being selfish. Giving nourishment to others feels great and feels right. That is true. However, at the same time, you must also allow yourself to receive nourishment from others, as well. This is an emotional deposit.
Consequently, if you stay in the red for too long, your bank may close your account. As a result of being under-nourished, you probably have low energy, sluggishness, adrenal fatigue, exhaustion and have a wide range of unhealthy emotions. Why live on a half tank or gas, or on empty, when you can have a full tank, everyday? Is it because you don’t know how? Do you have the skill to self-nourish? What’s stopping you from…you?
Here are some types of Healthy Daily Deposits that you can provide to yourself, daily. Don’t think of it as “one more thing on your to do list”. Instead consider this a daily healthy habit that is instinctive, automatic and a must have. YOU are worth it. YOU need it. YOU deserve it. Furthermore, YOUbank is not an option, it is a necessity. Time to self-nourish!
- Aromatherapy
- Diffusing during the day and/or night with an ultrasonic diffuser, necklace diffuser, aromaball plug in, car diffuser, nasal atomizer, room or body spray
- Massage, Bodywork, Energy work, Facial
- Deep breathing exercises
- Physical activities – working out with weights, Zumba, tai chi, yoga, swimming, sports
- Hobby – find a hobby, something that you enjoy for the pure simple pleasure, and not out of responsibility or obligation
- Laugh! Watch a funny movie…often! Laughter has been shown to increase the immune system, while sad movies suppress it (by over 50%).
- Sleep 7-8 hours per night – it is best to be in bed by 10:30pm, as your “second adrenaline” kicks in at 11pm. This is not to help you stay up all night and party, lol. Rather to give your detoxifying organs that work the night shift, energy to do its job as best as it can.
NOURISHING RECIPES
Replenishing Bath or Shower Gel – use daily
1-2 oz. unscented castile soap
4 drops Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis, Chamaemelum nobile)
2 drops Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica)
4 drops Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
Benefits: nourishing, nurturing, caretaking, relaxing, replenishing to the mind and body, grounding, feel invisible
Morning Energy Deposit Spray – spray yourself and your clothes every morning when you wake, and when need a pick me up.
2 oz. Distilled water or Plant liquid enzymes
6 drops Lime (Citrus medica)
6 drops Spearmint (Mentha spicata)
4 drops Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)
3 drops Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)
2 drops Pine (Pinus sylvestris)
Benefits: Energy, nervous system, respiration and lung health, adrenal support, feeling overwhelmed, adapt to change and new situations
Self Nourishment Aromatherapy Diffuser Blend
2 drops Jasmine (Jasminum officinale)
4 drops Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)
2 drops Elemi (Canarium luzonicom)
2 drops Silver Fir (Abies alba)
Benefits: self-love, self-nourishment, release bitterness, resentment, feel comfortable in your skin and being YOU
