How many of you set goals for 2018? Did you write them down? Did you create an action plan to accomplish them? If so, its that time. Time to put those goals into action. Move out of planning mode into doing mode. If you have not made an action plan, take time now to create a few steps over the next month to move you closer to your goal.
Goal Setting Review
It is not to late to set or revise your 2018 personal and professional goals. What top three achievement would you like to pursue this year? They can be personal, professional or both. What is your reason why these are important? Your why is very important here as it will be your driving force to stay the course, even when life throws you a curve ball. Don’t make your list too cumbersome. These should be attainable goals, or at least move you in the direction to attain a long-term goal. It can be something like save money for a family vacation, go to college to get a trade degree, expand your business, or retire.
Action Step Creation
Okay, now create a list of action steps that can move you closer to that goal. You look at the big goal, break it down into smaller parts, so you can manage those smaller parts in a shorter time frame. If you are looking to save money, tat starts by reviewing your budget and making adjustments to free up some “extra money”. You really are reallocating those funds. Next, you will open a savings vehicle account to deposit money into. Then, you’ll set up a system, either weekly or monthly to gather a set amount of money and deposit it into that account. And so on. See, you have to create action steps that would get you where you want to go.
Action Steps in Motion
Now, let’s put that plan into action. That means you have to do step one this week. You can do step two next week. Step three in the third week and so on. It starts with one step forward. If you don’t succeed today, you will try again tomorrow. The key is setting a deadline to accomplish each action step. This holds you accountable to pursue the goals you established. You got this! Let’s go!
