Speaking Your Body’s Language & Translating The Signals

How many people listen to their body? Okay, let me rephrase that, how many people listen to their body’s everyday, whether you are having a good day or bad day? Most people only pay attention when there is an issue, imbalance, illness, discomfort or pain. It is hard to recognize the very initial stage of an imbalance, especially if you don’t know what you are looking, or “listening” for. It could be something as simple as a slight headache, gas, bloating and tired muscles. If you don’t address these subtleties, the body “screams” a little louder, and that headache, indigestion and muscle pain gets worse. Speaking your body’s language and translating the signals can help you understand what symptoms mean and why they are occurring.

What is my body telling me?

Symptoms are a way for the body and mind to talk to you. It does not have an actual voice, so it shows you what’s wrong, by activating a symptom (what I call a smoke signal). When those smoke signals are ignored, the body sends more smoke signals, or enhancing the fire (aka pain and inflammation). When you become better attuned to your body, you have an easier time recognizing how to translate these systems and connect the dots to assess where the dysfunction is happening. Learning what your body is saying to you, or rather, showing you, can help you stay in a healthy range, and potentially avoid a major imbalance. Of course, there are many things going on at the cellular level that you don’t see or feel. However, when those cellular disturbances manifest and get bigger, we start experiencing more significant discomfort. this issue has been going on for a while, but is only at the point now of having a “colony” or community to scream louder so you can hear it.

The main culprits I find people respond to quickest is pain. Whether that is physical, mental or emotional pain. When we hurt, we want to stop that pain, discomfort, and inconvenience it causes on our quality of life. Your body is very resilient. It is extremely interconnected, intertwined and interdependent. When you match up the right solutions to the issues at hand, results happen. Let’s talk about body language, the messages they are sending, and how you can respond to your body’s requests.

Cultivating a Relationship with Yourself

Stop. Listen. Take an inventory from head to toe, inside and out of what is working and not working? What needs a little help? Paying attention too your body’s needs should not be an afterthought, or on the “when I get around to it” list.  It should be front and center, top on the list. If you do not have your health, or mental faculties, nothing on your list will get done. Or get done right.  You have to start with you.  Lead by example for your family and friends. You are worth it. You deserve it. You need it.

Happy Body Language vs. Unhappy Body Messages

When the body and mind are operating at its best, optimal level, it is healthy. It is balanced and in harmony with one another. A happy body will respond with energy, flexibility, mobility, clear thinking, motivation, joy and stability.

When there is a breakdown in the body and it goes unattended, a dysfunction starts occurring and can manifest into something bigger. It may even start interfering with other body parts. An unhappy body message, such as pain, inflammation, cold, flu, sick, poor mobility and lack of circulation, is telling you to Stop! Look at me. I need you. Please help. Help me right now. When you give it the tools it needs like water, minerals, enzymes, proteins, good fats, sleep, colon supporters (to take out the internal trash), stress reduction and some daily fun, it can move back into a balanced state, and symptoms will subside.

Scent to the Rescue

When you smell an essential oil, the body will take it in, connecting to the scent’s potency that it needs to balance emotions, thoughts and mental abilities. You can get a specific response in the body when you smell one essential oil scent, and another when you smell a different scent.  Essential oils will connect and support physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically and chemically. If you can see someone smelling an essential oil, watch and listen. How do they react? What are their facial expressions and body movements? Do they smile and light up with joy? Or do they back away, turn they head swiftly to the side? Do their shoulders relax, or shrug up tensely?  What sounds do they make? Maybe an “ahhh, I love it” or “ewww, yuck”.  This will tell you what essential oils can help you right now, at least on the surface issues.  When you get into deep, emotional healing, that is a whole new level.
